Chiropractic didn't simply become my profession—it changed the direction of my life.
From a young age, I struggled with severe, recurring headaches. As I got older, I also developed debilitating jaw pain. I went through X-rays, prescription muscle relaxers and medications for the headaches, but the problems continued. Eventually, my dentist told me I might need jaw surgery—even though the cause of the pain wasn't clear.
At the time, I had no idea that chiropractic would become such an important part of my life. I had taken a job in a chiropractic office without really knowing what chiropractors did. Working there gave me the opportunity to become a patient myself.
After beginning a corrective chiropractic program, my frequent headaches began to subside. Even more dramatically, the debilitating jaw pain I had been living with resolved within about three months of receiving chiropractic adjustments. It was the first time I had personally experienced what chiropractic care could mean in someone's life.
That experience ultimately changed the course of my career. I knew I wanted to help other people through chiropractic care, and I went on to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2006.
Today, that personal experience still influences the way I care for my patients. I understand what it's like to live with persistent discomfort, search for answers, and wonder whether you're ever going to feel like yourself again. That's one reason I believe so strongly in listening carefully to each patient and providing individualized chiropractic care.
